site coordinates food sales abroad.
A new web site, is coordinating the sale of food products from more than
20 suppliers to customers aboard. Although food products make up about
90 percent of the goods offered, other goods such as nargilehs, abayas,
and music are being offered. "Suppliers trying to enter into e-commerce
through private sites usually do not succeed, because the cost of the
site, the maintenance, and advertising do not justify the volume of sales,"
said Tony Assy, general manager of Aldoukan.com "If one site gathers
them all, giving all the logistical support, advertising, and creating
business opportunities, it will achieve results, as a customer can open
one site and order the best Lebanese suppliers can offer". According
to Mr Assy, starting from the site's soft opening in late July, 30 orders
have been received from the US, Australia, Japan, and Britain. When a
customer places an order on the site, the order is instantly transferred
to the supplier. The Aldoukan.com managing office looks after packaging
and shipment. |
